Here are the pictures of my VF39. It has 17 cast on the outside of the exhaust housing and 18 cast on the inside of the exhaust port.

It's actually a P17. VF30/34 is P18 and VF22 is P20.

 

There is some debate about the exhaust housing on some vf39's actually having p18's. There is a poll on NASIOC and not quite half seem to be p18's. Hence the question.

I wouldn't be too surprised if STi's and FXT's have different turbo's even if they are both called the same.

 

The stock turbo on the FXT is a TD04 like on the WRX. The pictures are from an STi VF39. It is going to replace the TD04.

i got an 18 on the inside and nothing on the outside or at least i didn't notice when i had the turbo off, so i guess i have the P18

 

My vf39 series turbo came with an p18 housing also and it screams i love it. Boost all the way to redline and puls hard very please with an $450 dollar purchased.

 

from what I have been reading, the markings on the outside do not reflect correctly what the housing is. What is marked on the inside, like you have, is what is correct.

I have yet to take mine off to check, but most 05 STis seem to have the P18 housing
