Upgrading 07 wrx to sti turbo

so i was reading a turbo thread on nasioc, it says that for a vf43, 02-05 wrx's will need fuel upgrades. does that mean that 06-07's dont need fuel upgrades since they are all ready 2.5L?

if this is not true, what would i need to upgrade my 07 wrx to an sti turbo?

current mods: turbo xs TBE, Cobb AP v2

You should get an STI TMIC at least

To a certain extent... The 2.5l WRX motor has injectors that can handle a turbo up to the size of an 18g so it's not completely necessary to upgrade the injectors unless you want go to a bigger turbo than the 18g one day. You will need a Walbro 255lph fuel pump, a protune and an upgraded intercooler to run a VF series turbo. If it were me, I would install the above along with a Prodrive Boost Control Solenoid to get rid of the crappy two port BCS.

I also own the 2.5L engine on mine. From all the reading and research, I would change out the Top Mount Intercooler, maybe Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump. It really depends the turbo your upgrading to, just as 1sicwrx said. The stock fuel injectors on the 06-07 WRX has approximately 550cc stock injectors installed already.

I went VF39 a couple years ago. I did SSAC TMIC (larger top-mount, STI will work), Walbro FP, TUNE, and I think that was it...

After tuning the WGDCs for boost, I'd def. recommend a 3-port boost solenoid when tuning.

A 3-port BCS will drop your WGDC ~30% though, so I'd say bring it to your tuner and have it installed right before the tune. You really dont want to overboost!

I upgraded to a VF43, other things you'll need include a better TMIC (I got the STi one) and a tune via your Cobb AP.

If you get a VF39, yo ucan run the Cobb maps from their website. For something like the VF43, I went with an e-tune from Clark Turner. For $150 he sends you a base map and thus far I'm into a 2nd revision of the tune. You datalog on the AP and send him the logs for analysis/map tweaking.

The VF43 makes so much more usable power than the TD04, its not even funny. My mileage is still about 23mpg if not BETTER at times. And best of all, everything from the turbo up is factory hardware.

You would want to run a bigger TMIC, I would recommend the STI one for this (JDM if you can get it) and a Walbro fuel pump. Obviously a tune to top it all off.

Bigger intercooler, fuel pump, exhaust and custom tune at the minimum. Find a tuner and go with their advice.

Did you do it yet?

I've got an 07 WRX TR with a downpipe, Borla Hush, MBC & a tune.

I'm having a VF39, STI TMIC, Walbro fuel pump, transmission/motor mounts and a tune installed next week.

Let me know how your VF43 worked out.
