Which turbo housing for the GT30 .63 or .82?

hi,
im in the process of buying the new perrin gt30 kits for the sti, i was wondering what the best housing was for track racing. I've done alot of research on both housings, but i wanted to hear from people that have this turbo.

thanks

I assume that by track racing you're talking about road racing? A good case can be made for the .63 here since it spools a little bit faster but the .82 obviously has more top end. It really depends on your driving style and what octane gas you'll be using. For road racing, you often want the fastest response possible but at the same time, you're only using the upper RPM range. Personally, I would probably go with the .82 w/ 100 octane because the .63 preforms very closely to a TD06-20G / Green (which are much cheaper and simpler to set up and tune). The Garret turbos really shine on race gas.

Thanks,

Geoff

I agree with Geoff. At the same time, I would steer clear AWAY from the perrin kits. How do you make that bird noise??? cheap cheap cheap

Just because they cost less doesnt mean they arent good quality. Perrin mass produces these kits and therefore can sell them a lot cheaper. A new up-pipe (150), down pipe(250), wg(400), turbo(1400), and intake(300) doesnt quite add up to the 3k+ that some manufacturers are selling them for. A lot of other manufacturers have the kits custom made and therefore may cost a little more because of the time spent fabricating these parts. I'm planning on getting a perrin rotated kit as soon as my engine gets rebuilt.

I was just joking around. We've sold quite a few of these kits and the quality and fitment is good.

Thanks,

Geoff
