tanabe ultra titanium for sti anyone have one yet
hi i bought new sti and need lots of help with add on info .this seems like the best site ive found.im looking for best intake cat backs, strut bars .bov, turbo booster etc.should i post questions each in a different topic?this is my first subaru and im in love
IMHO, catbacks are a matter of personal preference, they're all pretty similar and vary mostly in sound and looks. titanium catbacks can run as high as ~1100$ while cheap ones can run under ~500. check out as many as you can before you make your decision. the STi is damn stiff already and doesn't need strut bars in my opinion (unless you plan on showing the car). you probably don't want the car to skip sideways over the road everytime you hit a bump. the STi doesn't need an aftermarket BOV unless you're running over 17.5 PSI. It uses a recirculating valve which is better than a blow off valve cause you don't lose the recirculated air pressure inbetween shifts. if you must have a BOV, then check out the Worx one because it's a recirculating BOV. i'm more a fan of upgraded engine management or a piggyback chip such as the XEDE rather than a boost controller. this is because cranking up the boost always leads to other problems that usually can't be controlled with only a boost controller. additionally, i'm sure you already know that some STis have some problems with pinging (cranking up the boost wouldn't help this). oh and lastly, it seems that a number of STis are having problems with intakes so it would be best to only get an intake with upgraded engine management. hope this helps.
thanks ,ill check out your favorites of course eveyone i ask about upgrades is selling them.like cold air intake by perrin, bov, catch can ,turbo boost valve that supposably will give 2 lbs of boost an not set off the engine management im glad to hear about the bov ,maybe i can send the one i ordered back.any info is appreciated since im very new to 4cyl turbos
yeah, you've got to be careful, like you said, everyone is trying to pitch a product. spend some time reading this forum and the one at NASIOC and you'll learn fast. (by the way, CAI's work notoriously poorly on most subarus)
thanks i realized that after asking my son.this st uff is confusing you seem to know a bit .what mods are the best so as not to lose warranty?whats this acces port thing they say you can take off before going to dealer an they cant tell

this is on several posts floating around on subaru forums. I believe they cause problems with the MAF sensor leading to engine management difficulties (too much air, too long of a path, different pressure, etc.). additionally, there are no substantial benefits over a short ram intake (for numerous reasons that i won't go into here). of course there are always exceptions to general rules. if you're interested in specifics, you might want to try searching the NASIOC technical forum.

for engine management info, check out the engine management forum.
rather than restating, this should be useful in reference to the cobb acessport:

I have the ultra med. TI I love the sound but the apperance of it is not as agressive as some of the others because it looks small. But other than that I love it, its not too loud but loud enough to get a ticket.
