some have replaced their steering rack bushings with poly ones from Whiteline and have noticed that along with improved steering feel, the wheel has centered itself afterwards.

My STi came with a fine alignment, fwiw

If you do the steering rack bushings, you'll want to have your alignment checked again just to be sure. If you need an alignment anyways, I would DEFINITELY get the steering rack bushings first. Cheap at ~$30, and makes a big difference in steering feel.
