The right way to go with an exhaust?

well im saving up for my exhaust right now, and well i have it down to where i want to go with the turbo xs turbo back exhaust. i have heard things about mixing up brands together isnt good, like geting a helix dp and then an hks catback wouldnt be as good as the same brand dp and catback. is any of that true at all? i was starting to look at the invidia g200 catback and then going with one of their downpipes, or possibly the espelir catback and some type of downpipe. any insight into this would be greatly appreciated. and if this has already been covered, then i apologize.

well i found a espelir gt500 for 360 bucks, so i was thinking of picking that up, and then going with a downpipe later on. how are you able to find out if they mate together? trial and error?

It should line up, their is a sliding bracket at the back of the downpipe that gives you a little play.

IMO, what it boils down too is what style you want, how loud and how much you can afford.
I wanted single tip, loud and semi-affordable so I went with Invidia and I am very happy with it.

Price isnt a big thing to me if it is only a couple hundred apart from each other so basically i just want a stainless steel exhaust that makes a semi-loud sound.

well i found myself a used espelir jgt500 going for 360, i can maybe take it down to 320 or so. it was on an 06 so it hasnt been used very much. i was looking at how much new ones would be, and they only have the jgt500r and those are about 550 bucks. you think its worth it to save the 200 bucks and get a used one? i would check it out before i bought it of course, but if it looks good and everything, is it better to save that extra cash for a downpipe?

absolutly, if that is the cbe you want get it used (in good condition). Check to see if it is a full 2.5, 3, 3.5 exhaust. some of the 3" taper to 2.5 where they bolt to the down pipe, if you plan on putting a 3" dp later you'll probly want a full 3" cbe now. (I put my dp on 1 day after buying my sti, cbe will be here tomorrow, borla xr-1
