As you get around 3 grand or so it's like a really high pitched noise, it high enuff rpms it almost sounds like a bunch of little kids screaming, like in a horror movie or something.............I dunno wtf it is. Any ideas?

my 05 sti does the same thing, I really notice it after I got my cat-back. The car runs fine and I think it is the turbo spooling up.

 

Ok cool thanks man. yea it's weird like i can hear it a lot usually after i have been rompin on it, but othertimes i cant' hear it.

 

Its probably the turbine spinning... does it sound like a jet engine on a plane? Here is a good picture of the turbine..

 

Yeah mine too. Especially when it just gets started.

 

It sounds like a high pitched tranny whine almost but from the engine (turbo i'm pretty sure). It doesn't sound like a jet in the sense of just a loud air blowing sound.
