I would drive it for a few months and see how you like it and research the different mods that are out there. Once you get the feel for the car and how you want it to perform, start modding. The first mod I would go with would be a Cobb AP.

yeah, I am gonna drive it for a few thousand miles stock first of course. I'm not planning on dropping it because I just don't wanna scrape my front bumpers anymore. I just wanna stiffen the car for better handling. and of course more power... I'm sorry i'm not familiar with cobb AP.

06 sti........

You should just buy some 05 sti motor mounts and get it out of the way. If you drive agressively ie clutch dumps you will break them quickly. They switched them from the 05 to 06 they are made of plastic now instead of metal. Then go get an Cobb ap and some endlinks and it will be a fun ride!

If I were you, be satisfied with the stock hp the car is giving you. Adding a Cobb Accessport as your first mod will cause a snowball effect where your money will be spent quickly. you will want to add a turbo back exhaust and other power mods to accomodate your accessport. Then after the power mods, you will have to protune the car to get it running correctly. The Cobb Accessport maps run rich on fuel so a protune is a necessity if you want everything running in order. Also, adding power mods while the vehicle is under warranty can be an issue with the dealer if you decide to take it in for powertrain warranty service.

If I were you, I'd play around with the suspension of the car by adding sway bars, rear endlinks, and some lowering springs and hardened top hats. The STI pink springs only drop the car by 1" so it's not much of a drop and you should be able to clear alot of curbs and driveways. I started off with adding suspension first and loved it.

So think about the costs if you were to go with power mods:
1. Cobb Accessport - $645
2. Turboback exhaust - $750-1100
3. Protune - $400-$600

Suspension mods:
1. STI Pinks and top hats - $450-$650
2. Front and rear sway bars - $300 (cusco sways)
3. Endlinks - $99 (helix)

I know it would get costly getting into it, i've always modded my cars, so that's expected and it's not a big deal. power is like a virus, it speads quickly and it gets me everytime. I AM planning to work on the suspension first tho. sways, tower bars, endlinks... don't think I am going with springs, if I do get that done, I'm going with coilovers. as for warrranty..... I already know that modding would just kiss that goodbye... the car is pretty durable from what I hear.... anyone run into any problems? Thanks again for all the advise.
I usually do all the basics on power modding, I/E... I hear the up and down pipes makes good gain, is that true?

a downpipe is a good first power mod next to a Cobb Accessport. you don't need to replace the up-pipe since it's already catless.
