so over the past week or two i have noticed a scraping sound like metal on metal coming from what i thought was my brakes or underneath my rear right side when i idle around 2000-2500 and then again when the car settles after i accerlate around those rpms in 1, 2nd, and 3rd . I jacked up the rear right side and duplicated the sound but when i inspected the underbody where the noise sounding like it was coming from I am clueless because everything looks intact and ok. so any thoughts?

 

I had a simliar problem on my 99 2.5RS and it turned out to be a small rock that had got in-between my brake rotor and the heat shield. I was able to remove it with some pliers. It made the most amazing metalic scraping sounds when a bump or knocked into the wrong place.

 

Hey, I don't know about the 1999 but my 05' makes a scraping noise when i downshift, dealer told me about a recall which I heard nothing of, they said it happend at 15,000 miles but who knows!
