MBC issues. (Plus low boost)??

Ok guys. I guess I was told wrong by perrin that I could run a mbc to turn up the boost a couple of lbs. (like to 17), cause the turbo is good for up to 18. But I've done alot of research, after installing it last night and now it seems like a bad idea. I also installed a boost gauge last night.

Weird thing is, I got a baseline, before I installed the mbc, and the gauge told me I was running between 7-10 lbs. Has anyone had this problem? I made sure there was no kinks in the line of the gauge. I was able to install the mbc and turn it up too 17lbs. Car runs great. No detonation so far. But it seems the car will run lean until under wot. So should I take the mbc out(and just get rid of it) and take the car to dealership and see if there is some problem with the car? (i.e. vacum leak)? So theres no really safe way to run a boost controller either? Thanks guys.

Joe

TW I have an 06 STI

haha my cousin did the same thing and he was boosting 8!! check the boost controller. we found that the things that come with the boots controller dont work as good as they seem. try using the rubber tubes without cutting them. becuz they LEAK!! becuz otherwise u be running 15.0's
