can someone descibe to me what knock/detonation sounds like. read some other post here but still a bit confused

what about like popcorn popping sound. like towards the end of cooking cycle when a few are popping (slow enough to count accurately).
does detonation happen throughout the power band or just at high rpm/when on boost?
