Check this... Is this common on STi's..........

I noticed that the idle in the STi is very unstable is not steady at all. I also noticed that my idle seems to be related to my brakes or clutch.

Today and (sometimes before) I was at a stop light with my clutch pushed in 1st gear and my idle needle jump from 750 to 1000 back to 750 then to around 900 and back to 750 rpms steady. It basically jumped twice. Every time that this happens to my car I have either the clutch pushed or the brakes pushed. Is the idle related to the brakes or the clutch?

Why is the idle in the STi so un-steady???? Drive by wire, cams or just been a STi????

Stock car engine wise

I have two STI's (a 2004 and a 2005) and they both do the same thing. Nothing to worry about, but I'm not sure what causes it.

If you have a 2004, there may be some screen filters restricting oil flow to the heads, which can make the problem worse. I can dig up the instructions for a fix if you need it.

it's electrical. When you push the brakes, the car uses more electricity to use the brake pump, this puts it below range on the amps, and the car pushes the engine a little to maintain the proper amp level.

I only have feedback about the brakes...
If I'm not mistaken, most cars like our Subarus now have vacuum assisted brakes. When you push on the brake, the master cylinder uses some vacuum pressure to increase braking effectiveness. A side effect of using vacuum pressure is increasing the idle temporarily while the engine adjusts. (vacuum pressure is taken from the intake manifold...
