Hi everyone,
I am new to this site/forum(s) but not a "newbie" to the tunning community. I have owned previous sports cars that produced serious power from the upgrades I had performed. I sold my 1990 300ZX Twin Turbo 2yrs ago due to the high maintenance costs. Also, I recently sold my 1994 Toyota Supra Turbo because of the HUGE profit I made on the car. Ya' gotta love Toyota's! Anyhow.... I currently have a 95' 4Runner and have enough money to purchase a another car to play around with. Now, I am currently attending school and need something practical (as I will be giving my 4Runner to my borther soon) to drive. I was looking at some of these cool new cars such as: VW R32, WRX/STI, and Mitsu EVO. I know the Evo has clutch problems, the VW has no potential for upgrades compared to a turbo'd car, and the WRX has transmission issues. I like the STI, but do not want to spend $30k+ msrp for a car. I wanted to know what the FACTS are on the WRX as a used car. Is it reliable enough and worth the money??? I like the price and DO NOT want 400 horsepower, but I want around 300HP and thats all. I was wondering if the stock tranny can handle this much power, and if not what could I do? (please no 6spd conversion solutions as I will not spend $8k on a tranny). Thanks!

WRX's are great cars....if u have the money for an STi, i would get an STi...its basically a WRX on steroids and its just a really fast car from the factory...it also has alot of upgrades from a WRX, which essentially, would be the same, if u spent alot of money modding a WRX, except that the mods wouldnt be covered under warranty like the STi is...
