How to convert a slip ring motor into an alternator?
If the motor has two rotary joint, it is a synchronous motor. It can be operated as a synchronous generator by applying the proper DC excitation fiber optical rotary joints to the slip rings, connecting a 3-phase load to the stator and turning the shaft. The motor's nameplate should provide rotor and stator voltage and current ratings.
If the motor has three fiber optical rotary joint, it is an induction generator. If DC is applied between any two slip rings, it can probably be operated as a synchronous generator, but it probably will not perform as well as a machine that is designed as a synchronous machine. The motor's nameplate should provide the stator voltage, current and frequency ratings. You will probably need to determine the rotor voltage and current experimentally.
