Ram air doesn't make much difference. That 2-3 psi at the scoop kinda doesn't matter after that 15-20 psi boost from the compressor.

best thing to do is try to get the filter poking into the fender well then seal the other holes, I just did this last weekend

The hood scoop on the WRC car is there only to make the car look like the production car. The actual intake is in the fender, like everybody has been suggesting you do.

no not a bad idea, I even thought about it before

Theres alot of cars that incorporate ram air induciton from the factory effectivly and they're not all littering the sides of the highways during rainstorms from hydrlock

though if you do try to make this kind of setup I would suggest incorporating a low point before the filter with a small hole in the bottom were moisture can run out. Let us how it goes!

Wrong. It's the air intake. =)

See the thread/pics linked by the previous post. That's one bigass air filter!

On another note, maybe an intake that way, if using an aps fmic, but maybe some sort of way to design it so it it could force the air into a filter box then to the turbo, just a thought, i mean it would seem to make some sense, unless there's no space.
I've seen other WRC Subarus that are different. This may be new for 2004/2005? Actually that may not even be the WRC car but a really car for some other circuit. I don't see all the fancy electronics that the WRC cars usually have.

BAHAHAHAHAHA

no, not even

You must not only be extremly new to this site, but extremly new to forums in general if think that people become moderators by being the smartest people on the site

That said, I too do not belive that actuall WRC cars use the scoop for an intake, lets google it shall we!

well heres your answer, BAN was correct, the scoop on the WRC is NOT functional, here you can see the carbon fiber ducting is actually going to the hood reverse scoop, and this is to pull air up through the front of the intercooler and to act as a secondary air dam for increased downforce, hope that clears it up
