You have an 04 WRX. So, you can use either the Vishnu XEDE or the TurboXS UTEC. Those are the easiest two ems' out there now.

Can't take of advantage of road or dyno tuning if he lives in Hawaii.

Many are afraid to mess with Vishnu for this reason. If you don't live in the California area, its a little scary. I have heard some stories of guys spending hours and hours trying to get their STi tuned right. Truth? not sure, It's what I've heard.

What if your on the other side of the country ( which I am). How am I going to get hours of tuning to make my STi run correctly?

I used Turboxs for my 02 WRX. Their off the shelf stage 4 Unichip worked great on my car. I'm hoping they have something to offer in the near future.

EcuTek reflashes for the STi will be available on May 1st, at least according to their latest vendor memos. That means that whoever your favorite EcuTek tuner is, they can do your STi in about 6 weeks. If you are impatient, Vishnu's Xede and TurboXS' Utec are already available.
