DP + Smog checks

I know this is somewhat of a sore topic for some of you, but I think there needs to be a good discussion for those of us who want to run our cars in legal trim

It seems a number of catted downpipes have been release as of late, but currently, but only one (helix catted DP) currently lays claims to actually being able to pass CA smog tests. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and/or other catted DP's? I thought subaru owners were eco-friendly, but it seems like half of em run without a cat

So has anyone had experience with a catted DP and like to share?

California cars arn't smoged for 5 years from the point of purchase! Delete the cat and go! By the time 5 years is up and you have to smog, you can have enough saved up to buy another car and your STI can be a track car!

Or find a friend in Oregon and register your car there. Ya I know, $1000.00 fine for every deleted cat, be cool to the cop - turn off the motor (before he opens his door), keep your hands on the steering wheel and be polite. You probibly wont even get a ticket.

I ride bikes to go fast Anyways, I live in Daly City, which is notorious for ******* cops. I've had a perfect driving record until I moved here (I'm 28). Besides, I'm a tree hugger. OK, not really, but I'm getting old and just want to avoid trouble with the law. The new 2 piece catted from daddy's SCC looks nice. Expensive though.

Ok,

I would recomend the TurboXS exhaust. It has a catless downpipe but includes a high flow cat in the midpipe which you are able to remove and put in a cat-delete pipe for track days. I saw it on a WRX today and was impressed by the craftmanship. The only issue is that the catted midpipe hangs a bit low because of a strange bend near the front and rear flanges. It probibly would never cause you any problems. I did hear of a guy to drove over a steel plate in the road, caught the flange and ripped the exhaust system off of the car, breaking the turbo in half! Bet that made a noise... A few cuts and rewelds will straighten this pipe out completly. The cat delete does not have this problem. I have heard its loud at WOT. Here is the review.
