dccd for an 06

ok after doing hours of searching and research i still have a question about the dccd.. i have recently experience a problem with it when i was driving with it on orange, or all the way up.. i drove it fine for about 15 miles(home to work) and then right when i was getting ready to park, my car started to studder and i started to hear a grinding sound... i came to a complete stop and i was trying to park it when the car didnt want to move.. the car just revved up as if the transmission was stuck... i made an appointment with the subaru dealer to get it checked out but im wondering if this is something to worry about.. i hear that the dccd is known for studdering/grinding when you are trying to do a sharp slow turn.. so is this something normal that i should just cancel the appointment..

If it does it when it's still in Auto mode then it's not normal. Mine did that and I had to replace the whole center diff. The grinding "normally" happens when it's set on full lock (dial all the way up) or may sometimes happen in any other manual setting aside from full open position (dial all the way down). When mine was grinding I would set it in full open position and it would go away.
