I have this setup. It's amazing and the tbe sounds great. My STI really hauls now. Install and setup are very simple and gains are very noticable. When I started out at stage 1, the car pulled a lot harder and made me want stage II even more.

You can find a lot of reviews over on nasioc.com and iwsti.com

I had the tbe on my car before I had the cobb ap and the difference is only in the midrange. Just my experience with that setup (tbe+cobb ap) I noticed a nice gain in the midrange. The car pulls really hard from the onset of boost till about 5k rpm. After 5k rpm the car feels stock. I read that it starts to taper the boost from 17psi down to about 12psi near redline and I figure that is the reason why above 5k the car falls on it's face like stock. But then again this is only my experience with this setup.....

There are people who rave about the cobb ap and some people say that there is only a slight difference in there car. This is from the people here locally that I am talking about. I have no difference in my 1/4 mile time with the cobb ap installed or uninstalled. Like I said I think it really helps out the midrange the most. In no way am I bashing the cobb ap just stating my experience with the unit.

Dave

I've noticed a gain in the midrange with my Cobb AP Stage 1. That's currently my only mod.

As for the sites you mentioned, NUTSAC sucks, and www.iwsti.com has the biggest pansy-*** mods known to forums. Most of the members on www.iwsti.com are alright though.

Sorry to bring out a more or less, old thread... I might be picking up an 05 sti this saturday and I've found a few deals on new cobb ap's and a deal on used ones... How many of you bought them used and how many bought them new? How much did you guys pay? I wanna see if I'm going to be paying average what everyone else is or if i'm really getting a deal...

Tell me your quotes and I'll tell you what I paid for mine.

You'll lose though.

I would watch getting one on eBay. I have heard many people selling there's and don't unmarry the AP from their car and then ship it. To unmarry the unit, it has to be sent to Cobb to clear it which is like $100+ - make sure the person knows what they are talking about.

I have a question about the AccessPort. I just got an 04 STI and the previous owner had the AP on this car. He had the AP with a downpipe and turbo back exhaust. When he sold the car to me, he took off the AP while the DP and exhaust is still on the car. I am planning to take off the DP and exhaust soon. The question is, after the AP upload the maps to the ECU, does it leaves the mod to the ECU even he removes the AP? In other words, does the AP have to connect to the ECU all the time in order to function or its just a one time upload?

I don't know much about the AccessPort and I'm worried if I take out the exhaust, it might throw out some CEL error.

If you do a base map (which is what he probably did) then you don't have to have the AP connected at all times, but since he removed the AP he probably unmarried the AP which puts the ECU back to stock settings.
