I am running the full Cobb Stage 2 TBE and APv1 with Stage II 93oct Map. I am hearing a whistling noise and I can not tell if it is the sound of the turbo.. cause it sounds like my girls 07 Mini Cooper S, or if I have an exhaust leak... I only hear after 2300 rpm.. I was hoping someone else had dealt with this...

Totally normal turbo spoolin' noise. You also prob. hear some wastegate noise as well.

 

I ride with the stereo off just to hear that lovely sound!!!!

anyone got the stage 2 cobb on their wrx 06-07?

 

The easiest way to tell if it is an exhaust leak is have someone crawl underneath the car while your revving it and check all of the connections on the pipes. If you can feel air coming through the gap, then you have a leak. It may also have liquid dripping out too. Most likely the turbo, but checking the exhaust leak is fairly simple.

 

I am also hearing a sound between 3000-5000 rpm that sounds kinda like lifter clatter... is that the wastegate flutter I have been hearing about?

 

What does wastegate flutter sound like... I mean.. when I am pulling around 3000rpm with load (like up a hill) Its pretty loud

 

it should be the turbo, around 3000RPM thats when the turbo is really kicking in. you will hear alot of spool.

 

It sounds like the lifter clatter I used to get in my truck

 

i had the same problem last week. turned out the gasket from the exhaust to the up pipe cracked. spent 30bucks to have it fixed.
