I put a new turbo xs bov on my 04 sti and now my car is backfireing. I have tried adjusting it to no avail. Has anyone else encountered this prob and how should I go about fixing it?
im sure the gurus will chim in but it is my understanding that a bov during shifts backfires becuase it makes the car run rich. It isnt a huge deal just going to waste some gas.

the stock bov recircs back to the intake. thats why you hva eto block it off
the engine is expecting the extra air so it adds fuel
the air never gets there so the fuel goes un burnt and ignites in the exhaust.
put your BOV to the stock settings it had
If you went with an aftermarket BOV for the sound, then this wont help, but I purchased the Greddy Type-S BOV, it recurculates and has adjustable tension if you want to up the boost. I've been happy with it so far.
one more thing bad about the VTA BOVs is it's possible of carbon build-ups around exhaust ports in long run.
those of you had BOV on VTA for @ least a month... have you notice any power drops? Had mine on for a while, swapped back the stock bypass, and noticeable amount of power came back.

try looking into the gfb bovs... they offer hybrid types that may be a compromise of what you want- BOV's... everyone trys it.. at least once right? i had my bov on for 2 weeks- sold it right after. enjoyed the sound, slight decrease in hp according to my butt dyno.... had to get rid of it. i have better priorities than scaring lil girls and ol ladies driving their tree huggin civic hybrids
