Best Oil for an STI
The local dealership carries MobilOne and Royal Purple. I had used Royal Purple in my Jetta VR6, but I had to go one up in weight as it did not like the 10W30 (stock recomendation). I decided to go with MobilOne at 2K in my STi, the car feels smoother with the synthetic. So I guess it's good until I hear better, besides the price is better w/MobilOne.

My results showed 3x more wear with Mobil 1.
Different engines wear differently. And I don't have a Subaru (yet). So your results may vary.
I've never sampled/tested a regular oil in my car.
However, depending on how much you drive, and how long you plan to keep you car, and $$: I would compare regular oil, Mobil 1, and AMSOIL (or another synthetic like castro or purple).
See how they peform, and compare cost.
A little extreme, but if I'm paying a premium price for synthetic, I want to get what I pay for.
