Best Oil for an STI

Hey guys....I am going to change the oil on my sti as soon as I hit 1,000 miles but I'm not sure what oil is the best. I did a search and didn't come up with much. I want to put the best oil in it to make sure it lasts a long long long time.

i changed mines at 1500, because i think the engine would be more broken in, and time for synthetic oil. i am used mobile 1 5w-30 synthetic oil. also u might want to go to subaru to pick up a oem sti oil filter and a crush ring for the oil drain screw

I'd stay away from synthetic till like 10,000 miles.

Get with the program Insane, that's just plain bad advice. The literature is full of info to blow that idea out of the water.

Go to either Mobil 1 or Redline synthetic 5w30 as soon as you feel comfortable doing it. Personally, I went to synthetic at my first oil change.

It an issue of debate just like how to break a motor in everyone says something different but SOA says to stay away from it till about 10k.

That's what my dealer told me too. However, in the owner's manual it says synthetic is fine and it doesn't specify anything about mileage.

BTW, to answer the original posted question, I use Mobil 1 in everything (ok, not the lawn mower).

Same here. I changed mine at 450 miles.

I also used Mobil 1 5w-30 in my GTP with no problems.

I also use Mobil 1 5-30W I've used it in my lawnmower though only thing I had.

Any dynos at 10k comparing regular vs. synthetic?

BAN SUVS, you mentioned EVOs gaining more HP using regular oil in this thread

Anyone with STI results?

BTW, I've had oil analysis on Mobil and AMSOIL used in my current car. The Mobil sucked compared to AMSOIL.

Can you elaborate on that please? Because AMSOIL at almost double the price of mobil 1 5w-30, there would have to be a very good reason for me to switch to AMSOIL.
