best idea for short block on 05 sti

I've obviously searched quite a bit but wanted some input from you guys. Looking into an 05 sti with a bad shortblock. As far as options go I can get a used motor, (still searching but seems like prices are around 1800) or have mine redone, or buy a jdm short block.. any input appreciated links would be great too, thanks

Check out the Crawford s1 2.5 block. Not only can you get the block from LIC, They do a great job on installs.

http://www.licmotorsports.com/pfs-engine.htm

GST is also highly recommended

Hope that helps...

JDM STi short block is 2.0L.

USDM STI short block is less than $1800, otherwise go with a AXIS STGII block ~$2200 w/ forged pistons.

I dunno if I believe all that...are we talking about people building shortblocks with OEM parts or shortblocks assembled with Subaru with Subaru parts?

I was suggesting an OEM block, 100% assembled at the factory. I also suggested AXIS block which is assembled by Ron @ AXIS.

yeh thats why i dont want a OEM reman made by some retard in a trailer, not to suggest anything anyone has mentioned is that but some of my searches have yielded cheap blocks with "under 30k" which are probably reman junk with no waranty. that being said, I think my best bet is to go with either a 100% OEM block and reputable shop for the install or if I can swing the cash a forged block as said above. thanks again for the input, can't wait to get started on this.

ahh, in that case yeah, you're right.

OEM parts in a block "built" by someone is a whole different story.

Personally I prefer Cobb or Cosworth...but that's money and I'm trying to build a race car...
