running. LOL
I am not looking for something really nice and race ready. I just wanna get my wrx back on the road and for it to be reliable with a 2.5L
my plans(eventually) are pretty much a vf34+supporting mods, TGV delete, turboback, uppipe, tuning, perhaps a couple random things from there, but thats about it for power. So anything that can handle those and stay reliable would be fine with me.. mileage isn't a huge deal to me as long as its not much over 30k.. if it is.. let me know what you got.

I know at this moment AHQ has some used STI shortblocks, and used longblocks
I'm sure all the Subaru shops have craploads of random crap including STI shortblocks, JDM sti heads and goodies.
GST of course you mentioned, try LIC too, they should have used goodies
I would give NASIOC a shot since shortblocks actually aren't all that expensive to ship.
In all seriousness though I'd still call Gary/Max at Gruppe-S to see if they have FXT complete motors. Or whoever else since you don't seem to be a G-S fan. It's pretty much cheaper to just drop the whole longblock in, and you can sell your WRX heads too. And your TGVs/intake manifold can probably fetch a couple hundred bucks.
The only downside I can think of is if you do a hard turbo inlet (IE the APS) the ej255/257 complete motor then requires intake manifold removal, as opposed to the WRX intake manifold you can tilt the power steering (I forget what the thing in the front is) and just slide it in (very painfully).

Hey Greg, Sorry mate I really don't have anything other than new built motors. I have myself been trying to locate used STI block halfs so we can build the 4 motors we need for our racing effort this year (we rotate them and refresh them every couple of events, now with 2 cars I need more than we used last year).
I can give you a brand new OEM one at my cost if that would help you out?
Mike

Yeah, to be honest though as I have always stood, I don't know but one shop in the bay area which has not had it's share of fans and haters <-- both parties of which have valid points and can cite real incidents from which they can base a genuine (and valid) motivation for their beliefs. Gruppe-S has always been fair and professional to me when they made a mistake, so I'm alright with them.
They're probably doing well in Socal, as is I-speed. As is Crawford. I mean, there's more than a shop or two in these parts rekindled to great success from a suboptimal previous "first-generation" subaru shop. No one today seems to think the less of them.
