Bad rings? or no?
ok so i have a 2004 sti, and it has about 21000 miles... i broke it in nicly to 1500 miles. but now im noticing 4/5ths of my oil is burnt up by 1000 miles after i change the oil.
so what the hell could be wrong with my car? anyone had similar problems, or know what the real problem is?
and also one time it ran completly out and i drove it around for a day or two.. starving the head and making a loud rattle.. i had just had my oil changed like 1000 miles before, i had no idea my car ran out of oil... you can only imagine how stupid i felt. after i added oil and the sound lessend but still i can hear the rattle around 3000rpm. any ideas what that rattle noise could be? and any ideas on why my oil is burning up?
right now im fearing the worst, a screwed up valve train and a blown cylinder ring.
now if all that is true how do you guys reccomend i go about fixing it?
for your information i drive a 2004 Sti with only a gt-spec cat back, and a injen CAI
thats it, its basicly stock. no serious mods
any and all help is much appreciated

I'd definately take it to a shop and have them look at it.

Go Pay your dealer for a leakdown test. See what they tell you. regardless you are probably in for a shortblock. About 1750 from subaru, better than just fixing the existing one.
