Unhappy K&N Typhoon; Make car die? help!

I have had my typhoon in my 05 STi for about 2 months now and i love it. However today when i had my car running in the garage with the hood up. I noticed it actual filter of the intake was alittle dirty; so i blew on it to dust it off. When i did that the car shuttered as if it wanted to die and then when i decided to do it again to see if that would happen the car died when i blew into the filter...? Why would it do this? Is this common? By the way afterwards it started up just fine.

Thanks

Try breath mints!

No seriously that sounds really odd. Certainly when you are driving the breeze in the engine compartment must exceed what your lungs can produce.

I went out and tried blowing on my typhoon and it didn't die. I would say if your car is running fine, I wouldn't worry about it. I love the typhoon also

This isn't the thread I was hoping to die as my Typhoon is coming in. Were you using one of those compressed gas thingies to blow out the filter? It might be possible that your engine didn't like that nasty stuff.

i wouldn't worry too much about it. I have never had any probs with the typhoon on my sti and i haven't really heard of any other cases except this one. Plus this wasn't even a serious case because he stated his car ran fine after

I am thinking of getting this shorty intake... is it worth it?!
I keep reading that intakes are not worth it on our sti's... Does it also change the sound of the car as far as sucking air in? IE: As loud as removing the intake silencer?

Any cons to running the typhoon?

Thanks,
-Nigel

I don't think there are really cons. I have never had problems or have thrown a cel. This intake is way louder then the intake silencer removal mod. As far as power goes, I couldn't tell ya because I never dynoed it
