AMS Rotated mount Turbo kit Test INSIDE!!!!
Well you all knew it wasn't going to be long before we designed a turbo kit for the Subaru. And now you have it!
This in our prototype GT30R AMS V-band Turbo kit. This kit particular kit is using the new Tial V-band housing. Please keep in mind that the way this kit sits is not necessarily how we are going to release it.... but its close.
The numbers were VERY surprising.
The mods on the car were as follows:
AMS Prototype TMIC
AMS Prototype Catback Exhaust
AMS Prototype GT30R V-band Turbo kit
AMS Prototype Header
Deatschwerks 850cc injectors
Walbro Fuel Pump
Cobb Access port
Boost: Spiking to 22 Holding at 20
AFR: Low 11's under WOT
Fuel: 93 Octane Pump gas
The car its being compared to is our shop 05 when it had the following mods:
AEM Cold Air intake
Vibrant Catback exhaust
Open Source Tune
And now for the dyno chart:

This thing just hauls!!! I am so excited to try this thing on some big boost and see what it can do. We are also going to do a test with our prototype FMIC and swap the turbo to a GT35R to see what she can do... I can't WAIT!
Here are some pictures of the kit, again keep in mind this is not production ready. Also that top mount is also just a prototype for testing and now what our production piece will look like.

RACE GAS NUMBERS!!!
Finally, The EVO X here at the shop has slowed testing a bit with having to split the projects up.
In any even I am pretty pleased. This test was done on C16 and nothing else changed.
485WHP on a top mount.... not too bad LOL
The three charts in order of lowest HP to highest are:
Stock Sti
My sti with the 30R on pump
My sti with the 30R on C16

Nice numbers man..When you're trying this set up with a Fmic, try to turn the intake manifold 180 degrees.Do a dyno run with the manifold "as is ,then turn it .You will se a huge gain in hp and tq.Belive me ...I've tried.
Have a look at this site..http://www.pureracing.no/index.php?o...pose&Itemid=57 check out the Pureracing gallery/members or my Forester.

Thanks for the tip! We love insight.
We are actually developing our own intake manifold right now. So look out for that!

You're welcome.!
I'm a bit surprised that no one at this forum knows about this "trick".It's pretty much standard here in Scandinavia to do this mod when you're going for a fmic.Less turbulens due to the bends you have to have on a standard intake manifold, and shorter pipelines.
Anything you want to know just ask.
Cheers.

Is that the same setup basically as this car?

I think they are running a GT3071R and we are running a GT3076R. Its a damn nice car though. GST knows what they are doing.

We have been doing some race gas testing here the past couple of days and this thing is just SICK! I kind of want to take the AMS stickers off and put some stock wheels on it to go EVO hunting. Once we finish the race gas testing I will put some dyno charts up here.

Is a top mount capable of supporting a GT30 in hot weather during hard driving? I feel like a front mount is requisite of almost any turbo upgrade at this point so correct me if I'm wrong. I've been considering the GT52 from Element Tuning but I'd really like to stay top mount. If only there were an affordable V-mount.
