Age old question: 2.5" vs. 3" exhaust

Hello all,
I am considering a Hayward and Scott cat-back for my 06 WRX wagon. I wanted to hear about the advantages/disadvantages of using 3" piping vs. 2.5" piping. Any help would be appreciated.

i did

I did use the search function, but got too many answers to my query. Also, a lot of the info related to the EJ20. I want information specific to the 2.5L Turbo in my car.
