Aftermarket DP to stock catback

Hey, I spoke with the guys at gruppe s, and they told me mating an aftermarket DP to stock catback might be problematic due to different flange. I was thinking about possibly doing this, and getting AP for cobb stage 2 without full TBE. They told me some folks have had trouble with leakage in their exhaust with this type of setup.

Any thoughts from folks who have done this. BTW, I have a 2005 STI.

welcome any thoughts or comments.

That's what you call a "pitch". You'll be fine, you might not like how it sounds with the stock catback but a lot of folks have done it.
Only thing you have to specify to the vendor you're buying from is to tell them exactly what you're trying to do, that you're sticking with the donut flanged mids.

Turbo XS, Cobb, Maddad etc., don't forget to tune for it and of course, WG port but only if you creep. some haven't. GL

Will it sound bad, or will it just sound like stock exhaust? I don't mind the stock. If I do this I will be getting cobb AP. From speaking to others, and review of forum posts, my understanding was that you only need a wastegate if upgrading to a larger turbo.

thanks again

Can't say it's bad, haven't done it, for i have a full TBE. In all likelyhood, exhausts restriction will be your issue with the stockers.

Be wary of who you listen for advice, even me. Your stock turbo has a wastegate, from experience, i had my wastegate ported without having creep issues beforehand. Thought, since most of the 04 Sti owners were doing it when they swap their DP for aftermarket ones, but that was 3 yrs ago, everyone was kinda new to it then and not that many parts to choose from.
