Be very very careful. Some intakes (the Perrin BIG MAF) for instance, need tuning... Besides, in 99% of life, you get what you pay for.

You have a 06 wrx? an 06 STi? Either way, don't worry about the up-pipe - neither one has a cat in the up-pipe. The WRX has something going on that pumps air into the up-pipe to help complete hydrocarbon combustion but I don't think its a restriction.

Based on your comments - I am going to make the assumption that you are still at a stage I (no fuel system upgrades). Take my advice (its the same advice that I didn't take when I had a stage I car).

First get a engine management system. I recomend either an EcuTek reflash or the Cobb Accessport. Of the two, if you want lots of flexibility and muliple maps (ie - race gas, valet map, 91 oct, agressive street or mild street, etc) go with the accessport. If you just looking for pulling as much from your basic boltons as possible but not take the car to the track, go with the Ecutek.

Engine tuning is the #1 way to pull more power from your car - you will get more from this one investment than anyother bolton ($/hp) and you will be able to pull more from each bolton than you would be able to without tuning. All of this and you can keep your car in the "safe" zone by having it professionally tuned.

My $.20! Have fun.
