WRX flashing CEL problem ... misfire?
My friend has a 03 WRX with intake, turbo-back, header, uppipe, VF30, UTEC, Greddy Boost Controller, APS intercooler, and 565cc injectors. That is all of the mods no fuel rail or anything else. His problem is that he has a flashing check engine light. The car also every once and a while studders in third and fourth gears. Pulled the plugs and they are perfect. The car has gone through one UTEC (it shorted out) could that cause the factory computer to fry? It costantly flashes the CEL and won't stop! Tried to reset the computer, and it still flashes. Any idea would be helpful. We were also wondering if colder plugs would cure this? Also we have the idea to buy an STi computer and then using the UTEC, would that work (I don't know the differences between the two)? Like I said any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks,
Levi
