WRX '02 Cylinder Heads cracked - any suggestions?

I had my 2002 WRX (109,000 miles) in the shop to have a head gasket replacement and was told that there are cracks in both cylinder heads. There doesn't appear to be any coolant leaking at this point. The options I've been given:

1. Replaced both with Subaru heads ($1000 each plus labor).
2. Replace the entire engine.
3. Use the existing heads and pray.

I've done some research and have found places that will refurbish heads, but I haven't found any info about the reliability of the companies.

Any suggestions of other options or solid companies that reburbish head or provide new heads at a reasonable cost?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jon

You could go to atarco or similar places and get a full motor for like 1500. You should be able to find used wrx heads for under a grand easily.

If that is your predicament I would definitely go the
#1 route and replace your cylinder heads with new Subaru units.
Damage done to the cylinder heads is one of the costly
consequences of having a headgasket fail.
I hope you are able to get your vehicle fixed soon.
