why is it that.......
no two wrx owner runs the same type of modifications? I can't seem to get a general consensus on what to buy. Some have perrin up&down pipes, others have hks. I have a maxima also and most cars are running the same mods by the same company
The only thing I know for sure as my first mod would be the turboxs UTEC. I've been reading this forum for months now just to make sure so I dont' get flamed.
Why would you buy a certain up/down pipe or exhaust system? Was it the price/quality?

Actually I am sure there are many folks with the same exact mods. There must be 15 different brands of up-pipes and downpipes.. hey its America and when I bout this car 18 months ago there wasnt that much for the cars but now we can be picky with all the different companies wanting your business.
Yes the Perrin up and down pipes are of high quality. There are of course the flex joint up-pipes as well. You can spend less money and get other pipes that are great and just as good IMO or very close. Vishnu, Autospeed, APS, PDE,Perrin (to name a few)all make great stuff and you cant loose with any one of them IMO. I bought a BPM flex joint up-pipe its just been on two days now..
So your getting a U-tec...nice choice....I got the ECU reflash as I dont plan on wanting to change engine or exhaust mods...
The Perrin peices are high quality.........and to me the Vishnu turbo back system is a awsome piece too.......both companies are on the higher $$$ as compared to the others.....are they better?? Well??

blue, thanks for your information.
yea, there are alot of different specs/opinions on the up/down pipes for the wrx. It gets confusing when you see words like "bellmouth" design of turbo-back exhaust w/out doing extensive research (first time having a turbo car)

I decided to not get an downpipe and keep that one cat in. If I were to get a downpipe with the Bellmouth design I would consider a Helix brand one as its a good design and not as costly as the Perrin or Vishnu. Though advocates for those brands and pipes may say they are superior.
I was at Vishnu the other day and I never saw exhaust components look so good. The finish including the welds are near perfect and look awsome...3 inch tubing

hmm... not many ppl like to share info huh? I had to look up the profiles of more senior members just to see their mods and get a jist of what most ppl are running under the hood.
i mean, who would know that the stock intake is good enough till more extensive mods are done to require a cold air/short ram intake?
thanks blue once again. Hopefully I will figure out all these mods needed and install them myself since there aren't that many write ups.

psychobooe.. a re-flash is done by one of several different companies or tuners. Vishnu for example www.vishnutuning.com
go to that website and check out the ECUTek information as Shiv was one of the first in the states to have it........
