What are the signs of a bad tranny in a subaru??
i have an 02 WRX with about 4500 miles on it..i drive it pretty hard...it seems like shifting isn't as smooth as it used to be and well i dont kno..it just doesnt feel right...i have a 92 BMW 325is with 110K miles and an original clutch and it feels a lot better and defintaly shifts a lot smoother...Should i take my car to the dealership or should i go out to a dealership and test drive another WRX and see if its just me? What are the symptoms of a bad tranny...what will it do?..Also sometimes when I am going into reverse...at a dead stop with the clutch pressed all the way down i'll hear/feel grinding...

Maybe you think that it's loud now...just wait...maybe someday you'll hear it REALLY get loud.
It's not that it's a crappy tranny. It's that the wrx is the first subaru experience for most people and they don't know how to drive it. Subarus cannot be driven like Hondas and Acuras.

No clutch dumping, and no powershifting are the two I can think of right off of the bat.
