Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

What next?

Hey guys,

Below is a list of mods I have on my car. I used to have a VF34 setup and am still thinking about doing another one, but for right now, I'd prefer to stick with my stock turbo. Tell me what else I can do to increase power besides a turbo upgrade.

- Vishnu Catless Uppipe
- Vishnu Catless Downpipe
- Vishnu Dual Tip Non-Signature Exhaust (1 Cat)
- Vishnu Main Power Pulley
- Vishnu ECUtek Stage 1 Reflash
- Samco Intercooler Hoses
- Samco Radiator Hoses
- Samco 9 Piece Hose Kit
- Cusco Water Spray Controller
- STi RA Spec C Water Tank
- Pivot Water Spray Nozzles

C'mon, you've seen the movie, you're car can't possibly be fast until it has a magic red button on the steering wheel that somehow distorts time and space itself when it is pressed.

[note: the above is intended as sarcasm, and is in no way to be taken seriously for any reason]

All kidding aside, it sounds like you're pretty much done with that engine unless you want to move to the Stage 2 reflash (which doesn't seem like a good idea unless you have access to 92-93 octane). I know you asked in the engine forum, but have you also worked on your suspension/shifter/steering components? Having a raging beast under the hood means nothing if you can't keep it on the road and you are producing well past what the original WRX chassis was designed to control...

How about adding a Turbo inlet hose? Perhaps a little larger TMIC may help a little.

You could start working on other area's of the car like braking and handling as this will make you faster in general.

Sounds like

money is no object, so why not put in a Ver 8 STI motor? And of course as mentioned above, the NAWS! I'll probably get flamed, but I am on the stock turbo with a FMIC and header, and am running with STIs at the track. I do have a ported and polished VF34 waiting to go in (waiting on engine management). One other thing, titanium is flexier than aluminum, your front strut brace (whick is arguably not needed) probably isn't doing much.

Money is an object, that's why I'm holding off on the turbo upgrade.

Perrin Turbo Inlet would be good for the $$'s

Actually a complete turbo swap can be done for relatively cheap, Chris you know we would work you a deal mate!

You said for "right now"

you'd prefer to stick with the stock turbo. I thought that since you already had a VF34, you wanted faster spool (stock turbo). With all the mods you already have, and some of them bordering on bling (hoses), I wasn't sure what direction you where headed.

I guess I'll look into that, but for right now, I think I'll go with the turbo inlet and maybe some motor/tranny mounts, and hookup my water sprayer!!!
