What else do I need to consider before installing this?
im about to install the helix flex upipe so
I have the following things to look over.
1. Get all new gasket for up and downpipe
2. upipe has EGT bung, so no need to worry for cel
3. coat the upipe so better heat containment
4. remove and throw away heat shield, <- is it alright for
the car not to have the heat shield?
So am I missing any steps that is critical before I go ahead
and install the uppipe?

Keep the heat shield. It does almost as good a job as heat wrap tape for reducing underhood temps. It'll work even better if you wrap the uppipe underneath the heat shield. Does anybody have any problems with flanges cracking on wrapped uppipes?

I would get rid of the egt sensor and get a "fix'. Without the cat there the sensor's useless and it will likely fail due to the extra flow and heat. Why risk having any deris getting drawn into the turbo?
