Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

What can I do to get high top speed?

<-- N00B. But isn't the WRX governed @ 142 or something close to that? or does a reflash get rid of that?

Yeah, you just get the limiter taken off with a reflash.

to make your wrx go 150+ club would take it out of its character.
reminds me of grand turisimo . . . all the "money" i spent and i still topped out @ 157 . . . i think the same applies in real life.
if u have that desire for that top speed go buy a cheap mustang/camaro and drop 5 grand in the motor- and voila!

do you guys realize that the gearing on the 6 speed makes the car top out at around 130mph?

just cause you are adding another gear doesn't mean you will have a higher top speed.

Lift Kit and 33" Tires should take care of it .. LOL

Why are you concerned with the top speed of your car. Isnt how fast it gets to that speed what really matters. There arent many cars out there that can do 150+. Plus when are you ever going to go that fast? At a drag strip you will be lucky to break 100 but will probally beat the mustang lined up with you.

I dont think that is true, it tops out at more like 155 redline I believe.

Car Info: want a WRX
Its drag limited to 145ish. I've heard of stage 1 wrxs topping out at 155+. So what I would do is get a reflash and a couple power upgrades, aerodynamic body kit and lowering springs/coilovers, weight reduction, etc. More power, less drag, and less weight = Higher top speed

Lower it as low as you can go so there is less drag
remove the mirrors so there is less drag
remove the spoiler so there is less drag
really skinny tires so there is less drag
get a FMIC so you can ditch the hood scoop for less drag
take duct tape and cover all the body lines and contours on the front bumper, esp fog light recesses, for less drag (you laugh, but it was done in Car and Driver when the new body style mustang came out in 94 so they could hit 140 in the stang)

after all that, go to a wind tunnel, find out your Coefficient of drag, calculate how much Hp you need to go 200, build a motor with that much Hp, get custom gears made to match so you are at max Hp Rpm at whatever 200 Mph would be......

Or for $10,000 get a used Suzuki Hayabusa, mod it a little and enjoy the ride

ive hit an indicated 140 and that was fast enough for me in a car
