Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

I'm staying TMIC and going water injection on my STi. The only concern I have is does water injection still have the same effect in sub-zero temps. For instance, my car is usually driven in southern LA were outside temps regularly exceed 100 degrees in the summer. However, I make several trips home a year to Philadelphia and it does get cold in LA in the winter. Should I be concerned with this becoming a "seasonal" mod?

I had a discussion about this with my tuner (his car was on the cover of SCC a few months back) and he warned about just that: the effectiveness and safety of alchohol/water injection does indeed vary radically by temperature and humidity. Obviously both factors change dramatically the ability of the intake air to absorb the injected liquid. The colder the air, the less likely it would be to accept evaporated moisture. Similarly, a hot, wet climate would also be a problem, as the air would already be near to saturation. Richard said this would be a great mod for an experienced tuner who wanted to fiddle with it every few days, but not a daily-driver solution (which answers my question earlier in the thread as to why no production cars or exotics come with such a system built-in).

For daily driving usage, assuming the alchohol/water injection was merely being used as a knock deterent (not for bigger power gains)...what would be the main concerns?...aside from the obvious running out of liquid and catastrophic failures of a clogged nozzle ect...

Ive been kicking this idea around, but I need to learn more.
