weird noise from 2005 WRX wagon when off
Last night, after I drove 35 minutes on the highway in light, wet snow, I turned off the car and it was making this high pitched electronic sound. After an hour of this, I started the car back up and cycled on and off every electrical thing I had been using (heating fan, alarm, rear defroster, radio, fog lights, lights, reverse lights, turn signals, brake lights, steering, auto climate control, A/C, clutch; forgot the wipers) and then turned the car off and the sound remained. You can hear it when the engine is on, I think, too. I drove around the block (this time using the wipers too) and repeated the cycling thing and this time, it made the problem go away. I figured I would check that both the A/C and regular fan are actually working since the sound seemed to be coming from that area. The area under the hood looked dry but maybe an unlucky splash on the right solenoid or relay is what happened. Both dealers I talked to had no clue.
What do you think?
