last nite i was just leavin my friend's house wen i started the car and the idle was all wierd. it kinda sounded like i had cams. The check engine lite came on and stayed on, and while the car was sittin there in neutral the idle wud go up and down from 800 - 1200 rpms. Just kept bouncin up and down. Currently im running a catback exhaust (basically straight piping from the cat...) and a turbo xs rfl bov...but the thing is ive had the bov for atleast six months and never had a prob wit it...so it seems wierd that it wud b coming up now...any ideas on wat it cud b?

 

Catback alone won't cause a CEL or rough idle. Get the CEL code read or change back to the stock bypass valve (BOV), reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery negative cable and secure it out of the way, step on the brake pedal a few times, re-connect the battery cable. See if the engine idles normally again after that.

well...before i came on and saw ur comment, i went ahead and took of the bov and then reinstalled hoping that the recirc cap was off a lil bit, wen i put it bak on and started the car...idle was back to normal!! wtf...yea idk y but it was. But the CEL is still on so im takin it to suby tom. to get a code...if all else fails im gonna switch bak to the stock bov...

 

meh just reset it and it should be good to go
