what is "moderately" modified? The only thing I can think that would cause SOA to send such a letter (and this is the first time I've heard of this in literally scores of people I've read about/spoken to) is if you've changed the ECU or a complete, major drivetrain component (e.g. engine, transmission, etc).

When the SOA rep saw my car I had:
uppipe
cat-back
whiteline lowering springs and end links
short shifter
brake pads, hoses and rotors
Prodrive ECU
I doubt they detected the ECU because they did not mention it in their letter.

I am almost positive it was the ECU. All they have to do is hook it up to the OBDII scanner and if the factory settings are not on there then you are screwed.
