I prefer the TurboXS hyperflow unit myself, it's extremley well made and fits really well. Matched with a vf34 or similar is a hard setup to beat for the fast road setup.
I also think that FMIC's suffer far less from heat soak than TMIC's and that once the car is moving the performance difference between the two is night and day (you can't beat the air forced into the FMIC while moving).
FMIC's will add lag somewhat due to the pressure drop caused by the piping lengths but when used with a matched turbo this really is not very noticable at all and again once the car is rolling you'll appreciate the FMIC more and more.

San,
I am completely satisfied with my PWR TMIC. I feel that at the power I'm producing right now, it is all I need. Talk about cool. After a pass at HRP (I'm in Hawaii, too) or the heat ended at the trackday, the IC was barely warm.
Once I start to upgrade anything to do with power, then I think I might start to take a look at a FMIC, but with the stage 4, the TMIC is all my car needs.

well i wanna know who has used the turbo xs tmic, or the vishnu tmic, and can you tell me what your experience with the i/c, thanks for the other replys, but i would like to know which of the two are better....
By design a TMIC set up is more efficient then a FMIC. One problem that wasnt mentioned yet with a FMIC is on the cold section. After the air charge is cooled generally with a FMIC it has to travel through a few feet of piping which is hot to get to the throttle body. During this trip the air charge heats back up. With the stocked designed TMIC the air charge travels an entire fraction of an inch which means no time for the air to warm back up, since your always moving while your boosting, heat soak for the TMIC (when using the turbo heat sheilds) isnt an issue. And oldman..... that paint or coating on your FMIC is hurting your heat disapation...

Like I said we prefer the TMIC's on cars with most of the bolt on turbo's, seems a much better matched combo to us.
I have personally installed and driven both the TXS unit and the Vishnu, my preference is the TXS one.

I have the Vishnu intecooler on my car. I didn't really notice anything from it. I didn't notice anything negative either. I'm currently running the stock turbo, but will be getting a Garrett soon and that is why I got it. It is a little expensive and it doesn't come with new hoses which I think it should. Also, it 'can' be sort of a pain to install because everything doesn't line up correctly, but I think most of the aftermarket I/C's do that. Also, it doesn't hinder any strut bar that I know of. Oh, it also says 'Vishnu' in big bold black letters on the top of the core. I'm not a huge fan about that either, but you can paint over it if you want.

I've saw an article, a year or so ago, from Autospeed. They put two powerful electric fans on a TMIC and while it lost some cooling at speed, the temps stayed very consistent even a a stop, and isn't consistency the name of the game when tuning? Also what about G-factor air to water intercooler? Seems like you would get more consistent cooling and you don't get the presure drop of a FMIC. http://www.gfactorwrx.com/2partsmain.html $1200 seems like a very good deal. Don't WRC car use water to air?
