Vf30/34 Vs Sr 30

Is the SR 30 better (meaning more power, quicker spool, etc)than the VF30/34? Running a TBE, STI Injectors, Walboro fuel pump, catless upipe, APS TOP Mount. Utec. for 02 WRX

If so in your opinion is it worth the extra money to go with this turbo. Also if there is an equivalent Turbo that you feel should be talked about please feel free to post it.

I'm not sure which is better, but I do know that you won't make much power with an upgraded turbo unless you get a less restrictive exhaust. The backpressure from the stock exhaust will cancel out most of the gains you would get from a bigger turbo, simply because it won't spool up as fast or run at peak efficiency. At the least you'll want an aftermarket downpipe, but a full turboback would be better.

I'd go with the 34, because it's cheaper and uses ball bearings instead of sleeve IMHO.

A neighbor had an SR-30 on his WRX (2002 silver wagon) and it spooled at least as fast as stock and made the same peak as my VF-30 (about 250 whp on Shiv's dyno).

I bought it but never installed it - if you are interested I'd be willing to sell it (unused).

According to APS it is supposed to flow 7% more than a VF-22 but my friends didn't quite make that I don't think (he had 255 whp and I had about 240 before tuning). The amazing thing about his turbo though, was the spool up was soooo good.

antiochcali do you still have it? and why are you geting rid of it?

i am about to purchase a 00 RS w/ a ej20 conversion, and it currently has a vf30. id like to get something non ihi if possible, but one that is not giagantic. i am a low end kinda guy, and would prefer spool up to top end.

let me know if you still have it, and how much you are willing to sell it for. any other pearls of wisdom is appreciated.
