VF 37 set-up on '04 WRX

Well I have been reading a lot about twin scroll turbos, especially the V8 spec-c which uses the VF-36 twin scroll. Reading things like 14psi by 2000 rpms, and full torque by 2000 rpms has REALLY got my blood pumping. I have been looking for something with great down low torque, quick spooling, and nearly 0 lag. I realize the V8 spec c has all kinds of goodies like AVCS and a 6 speed, and I also realize it would take a lot to swap out my injectors, fuel pump, oil pan, oil pick-up, manifold, up-pipe(s), turbo, and TBE to a spec-c take off, but I am really thinking about it. Does anyone have any thoughts, warnings, experience with this set-up? I would not be trying to max my HP figures here, if that were the case I would go with a VF 22 and be done with it, I am looking for smooth, broad power band and a lot of quick immediate power for daily driving and limited auto-x. Is there a traditional turbo that could do this for me? Honestly it is between the VF-36 and VF-35 at this point for my turbo replacement down the road.

Well that certianly would be easier than the VF-36 or 37 option...not quite as sexy, but effective. Any other thoughts on this? Anyone? Come on I know I am not the first person to think about doing a twin scroll turbo setup on a WRX.

I'd say stay away from the twin scroll turbos unless you want a real project on your hands. PnP'd VF30/34/39/22 would be a good choice, or just a regular VF23/24/29/35 are good, so I hear. They just don't make as much peak power.

have you found any detailed compairison of these turbos? Specifically the VF23/24/29/35? I have rread about them individually before but nothing compairing all of the VF turbos as a whole.

one other thing, would the USDM EJ20 flow enough to effectivly spin a twin scroll turbo? I have read the vf 36 is close to the vf 34 so I suppose it would work...dunno though....

yeah, that's my thinking as well. I have yet to find anyone who seems to have done this though.

i just picked up all the necessary parts to do a twin scroll setup. i'll let you know how it goes. i'm actually using the vf37 instead of the vf36. only real difference is the type of ball bearings used in the turbo.

does the vf 37 have the titanium shaft as well? Just currious, I knew it had thrust bearings instead of ball bearings. How much was the set-up, and what are you going to use for EM?

no the vf37 does not have the titanium shaft. as for engine management, i haven't really decided yet. i'm waiting for the release of the accessport tuner to see the reviews before i make any permanent decisions.
