I posted this in the engine management section, but want everyto help me out. So i saved 12 hundred bucks, and i either want to by UTEC and a short shifter, or gauges(EGT, A/F, oil temp), a turbo timer, and a short shifter. The shifter is because i hate the feel of my stock one. I was wondering what setup i should get. Thanks

 

another question, what are the three most important gauges need besides boost?

 

I would imagine it would be oil temperature and oil pressure, since if the oil temperature gets too high, the oil will start to break down and not protect and cool your engine. Without oil pressure, the idiot light would come on and u would be done for. Transmission oil temp is important as well, differential fluid temp and tire pressure. Exhaust gas temperature is very important, and maybe it would the third guage i would put on there.


So if i were to set up my own guages, i would have the factory boost guage on the steering column, and then either the three guages in place of the clock, or three on the a pillar (thats a bit too much rice for me though). The three i would put on the dash would be oil temp, oil pressure, and exhaust gas temperature. Hope that helps.

 

In response to the UTEC question, i would get the UTEC and the short shifter. Wait for the guages, its not THAT important with such low power.

I am planning to buy an Apexi N1 exhaust and uppipe and downpipe. Then maybe midpipe with high flow cat and UTEC.
