UP's and Downs, Pipes that is???

UP's and Downs, Pipes that is???
OK, so what the hell. I'm hearing a lot of mixed **** when it comes to up and down pipes, so i'm coming to good friends on the board for help!!
My local shop says, go Helix, no one we know has had any trouble with them and the EGT Sensor. Even though I love em and they do great work, they are still local and have not worked on every WRX out there.
Another internet shop I frequent has a Perrin on there with a bypass for the EGT sensor...but others are telling me it's not a problem...
So now what??? If anyone can please shed some like on this ****, feel free.
