Just jack up the engine. It's faster and less of a mess.

If you can access a lift then definatly do so. You can always do an up-pipe install from the bottom.

lol, dont do that . . . you might come across other difficulties. just do it from the bottom. its the most common way to do it. if you do it by taking out the turbo good luck! lemme know how that goes if you try it. either way its not a easy job . . .

IIRC the only risk you run with lifting the engine is misaligning the engine mounts when you put it back or puncturing the oil pan, both are easy to avoid. If you take out the turbo you risk leaks at several locations - exhaust leaks, coolant/oil leaks, etc.

I did mine from the bottom. Just remember if you do it that way to make sure the motor mount seats back down right. You'll know. Scoobymods.com saved my A$$. Remeber to get an o2 sensor wrench from auto zone, and just be careful with that motor mount nut it's a little easy to round. I used the Perrin uppie instructions even though i used a Helix. It took me 5 hours by my self in my gravel driveway, including cleanup and a trip to autozone for that damn o2 wrench. Just take your time. I actually found it a lot eaiser than i thought. I know a guy who did his by taking the turbo out. He had help and said it took 8 hours. He said getting that turbo in required a lot of patience and cussing. Good luck. I hope this helps a bit.

just unbolt the pass. side and push it up with your hand, it's easy , it only has to come ur 1/2 inch or so , you don't need a lift, and don't take the turbo off, unless your upgrading it.

you don't even need to jack it up, just unbolt the passenger side mount and push it up. You only need to move it up an inch or less. Peice of cake. My helix up dp combo took 3 hours with a jack and jack stands. (most of the time was getting up and down from under the car to get tools). DON'T take the turbo off , unless you're swapping a vf34

I installed a TurboXS Uppipe yesterday using this method, took about 2.5 hours with the help of one friend.
