uppipe or downpipe FIRST?

well after gutting an uppipe i can tell you the chances of the cat breaking apart are slim to none. took me hours with bf hammer, drill, dremmel, bent screwdriver....it's got some serious stayin' power....probably last a hundred years if some ahole kid didn't tear it apart. now the egt sensor....that's a different kettle of fish, this is the thing that could screw up your turbo...it's why most aftermarkets come with a bung. for those interested http://webpages.charter.net/baraboo_...ppipe_fix.html enjoy!
only newbies stop with a chisel/hammmer/screwdriver... 
a hole saw, grinding wheel, and wire brush, in that order, finishes the job. i ASSURE you without any doubt--there ain't nothing more coming out of that up pipe. there's simply nothing but nice shiny steel left.
if you've got the tools and a little practice, you can do one in an hour. i just might start doing them for profit (done 3 now).

well okay, i was being a little oversimplistic, but i did include the link which would correct any misperceptions...sorry for the ambiguity. of course after wire brushing, yeah steel and bronze, you are left with a nice smoth, shiny, no more cat left piece. i have no idea how chemicals would remove that cat and would appreciate any input (perhaps you mean residual chemicals,??surely not the whole cat). and ride, if you do go into the business, i've got an oem uppipe i'd sell at a song!
