upipe & downpipe w/stock exhaust

is anyone running a upipe/downpipe combo along with their stock exhaust? if so do you still notice gains? are theyre any downfalls to running this set up?

I believe alot of people do, alot of them get good results with an ECU Reflash....

i have the helix up and downpipes so im running catless. that helps a lot with spool up. i got a nice little gain from it so i recommend it.

downfall is i cant pass smog the normal way. :banana:

You may get a loud whitling sound coming from underneath the car. Guessing where the downpipe and stock catback meet.

i'm running an up and downpipe with the stock catback system. you will notice a significant benefit from this setup, as most of the exhuast restriction is in the up-pipe, and in the design of the downpipe flange/mouth where it bolts to the turbo.

the biggest drawback to the setup is the third cat. the factory cat is quite a bit more restrictive than a high-flow cat. its hard to piece something together with a high-flow and aftermarket cat back f you decide to go that route later on. the good news is that the up and down pipe don't make the car much louder than stock, though you will hear more turbo spool in the car's interior. it certainly makes it so you don't attract any more attention from the cops than stock.
